Linus is an AI-powered rehearsal and self-tape app built for actors by actors. It combines script upload, AI scene-partner rehearsal, and in-app self-taping into a single workflow, so performers can prepare auditions and learn lines on their own schedule without relying on a reader being available.
Actors upload their script as a PDF, including files with casting notes, stage directions, and imperfect formatting. Linus identifies the actor's character, separates scene partner dialogue, and prepares the scene for rehearsal. With more than 65 AI character voices spanning different accents, ages, and styles, actors can assign voices to every role and run scenes that feel natural rather than mechanical.
The app listens for the actor's cues and knows when to respond, removing the need to press buttons mid-scene. Loop mode lets performers repeat difficult sections until lines are locked in. A smart teleprompter scrolls lines naturally during recording, and voice commands allow hands-free control of the self-tape workflow.
In the Self Tape Studio, actors record directly in the app using the front or back camera, then upload takes to Linus Cloud for review and organization. Shareable links can be generated and sent directly to casting directors, agents, or collaborators, who can open tapes in the browser without creating an account. Linus works across iPhone, iPad, and web, with scripts syncing across all devices.
A free tier is available for a one-page scene of up to ten lines, giving actors a way to test the rehearsal and self-tape tools before committing to a paid plan.
